The Airbotx 440X draws in from the surrounding environment. This air first passes through the MERV 10 and HEPA filters, which remove airborne particles such as dust, dander, mold spores, and pollen. After passing through the filters, the air is drawn back into the chamber containing four UV-C lamps before being pushed back into the environment.
The Airbotx 440X uses two wavelengths of UV-C: 185 nm and 254 nm. The 185 nm section creates ozone, which is then broken down by the section of the lamp using 254 nm. This process creates hydroxyl radicals and other powerful oxidants, which are pushed out of the machine and released into the air to eliminate both odors and VOCs. In addition to treating the air, the radicals and oxidants also eliminate odors adsorbed to structures and contents.
Most of the ozone produced inside the Airbotx 440X is destroyed before exiting the machine. However, it is still important to monitor ozone levels and make sure to follow the instruction manual when using in occupied areas.
