290X or 390X: Which Machine is Right For Your Business?

During our decades of experience in the cleaning and restoration industry, our team tried many standard approaches for odor removal and disinfection. What we found was a marked problem in the design and application of popular procedures that hindered professionals from doing their jobs in the most efficient way possible.

We designed Airbotx with cleaning and restoration professionals in mind. Our two machines, the Airbotx 290X and Airbotx 390X, incorporate first-of-its-kind design and technology to increase the efficacy, efficiency, and functionality of odor removal and disinfection jobs. In this article, we will go over the two machines and their unique functions so you can determine which machine is the best fit for your business!

Airbotx 290X

The Airbotx 290X was created for germicidal use. By using UVGI technology, the Airbotx 290X can effectively kill or inactivate viruses, bacteria, fungal organisms, and other airborne pathogens in occupied areas. The Airbotx 290X has a built-in fan and can treat up to 700 CFM.

How it Works

The Airbotx 290X draws in air from the surrounding environment. First, the air is ‘scrubbed’ by going through MERV 8 and HEPA filters, which capture particulates such as mold spores, dust, dander, and other particles. The scrubbed air then passes through the UV-C chamber and is exposed to the four ultraviolet germicidal irradiation lamps (UVGI) before being pushed back into the environment.

Since UVGI doesn’t create any ozone, the Airbotx 290X is safe to use in all occupied spaces.

Airbotx 390X

The Airbotx 390X was designed to eliminate moderate to severe odors, including smoke, mold and mildew, marijuana, water losses, sewage, tobacco, animals, crime scene and biohazard, and more. The 390X has a built-in fan with variable speeds up to 700 CFM.

How it Works

The Airbotx 390X draws in from the surrounding environment. This air first passes through the MERV 8 and HEPA filters, which remove airborne particles such as dust, dander, mold spores, and pollen. After passing through the filters, the air is drawn back into the chamber containing four UV-C lamps before being pushed back into the environment.

The Airbotx 390X uses two wavelengths of UV-C: 185 nm and 254 nm. The 185 nm section creates ozone, which is then broken down by the section of the lamp using 254 nm. This process creates hydroxyl radicals and other powerful oxidants, which are pushed out of the machine and released into the air to eliminate both odors and VOCs. In addition to treating the air, the radicals and oxidants also eliminate odors adsorbed to structures and contents.

Most of the ozone produced inside the Airbotx 390X is destroyed before exiting the machine. However, it is still important to monitor ozone levels and make sure to follow the instruction manual when using in occupied areas.

Airbotx X-Series Applications

The Airbotx X-Series is designed to be used in areas with problematic odors and/or pathogens. Common applications include:

  • Cleaning & Disaster Restoration
  • Schools and Universities
  • Senior Living Facilities
  • Hospitality
  • Office Buildings
  • Hospitals and Medical Facilities
